The boot at the end

Desde el primer capítulo de esta serie no pude dejar de verla. Tiene mucho de intrigante la propuesta sobre qué es la naturaleza humana: el vacío de siempre desear algo. El vacío y el deseo volvían loco a Freud. En lo personal, me gusta más Zizek y su síntoma. No podemos decir que la naturaleza de todos lo humanos es satisfacer intermitentemente su deseo, sino que más bien sus deseos son un síntoma de la actualidad; de un estado -postmoderno, postnacional, postquirúrgico, post, post- de bienestar, comodidad y además cristiano. Es decir, el síntoma varía; por lo que esta serie ha sido tremendamente ilustrativa al respecto.

Otra cosa que me hizo pensar fue que en mi hilo de ideas sobre el síntoma, apareció el cliché: "decadente", síntoma de una sociedad decadente. Parece que nunca deja de estar de moda y siempre se puede ser más decadente. Pero también supongo que hay nuevas virtudes, espero.

From the first episode of this tv series I couldn't stop watching it. It has a lot of intriguing proposal on what is human nature: the emptiness of always to desire something. Freud was really intrigued about the emptiness and desire. Personally, I like more Zizek and his Symptom. We can't say that the nature of all human is to intermittently satisfy their desire, but rather that their wishes are a symptom of today, of a State -postmodern, postnational, postsurgical, post, post- commodity, comfort and also christian. That is, the symptoms varies and therefore this series has been tremendously enlightening about contemporary state -of mind-.

Another thing that made ​​me think was that in my thread of ideas about the symptom appeared the cliché: "decadent", a symptom of a decadent society. Seems it never ceases to be fashionable ato use the term and also you can always be more decadent. But I guess there are new virtues, I hope.

School of Saatchi

Recientemente encontré este reality patrocinado por el misterioso Charles Saatchi y va básicamente sobre un seleccionado grupo de jóvenes artistas que compiten por ser el próximo gran artista británico, en la línea de Damien Hirst o Jeff Koons. 

El programa inicia con la pregunta sobre qué es el arte contemporáneo, y es muy atinado hacerse esa pregunta. Qué es el arte contemporáneo? sino el high fishion, el éxito y el artista genio. Aunque me encanta que sea un reality, algo más accesible, que lo hace digestivo, lo consume y lo deja expuesto. No soy fan de este tipo de programas, pero en este caso me parece que ayuda a desarticular el mito del arte y da pie a diferentes reflexiones. También me encantó poder los procesos creativos, además de ver a Tracey Emin como una jueza implacable.

Recently I found this reality show sponsored by the mysterious Charles Saatchi and basically goes about a selected group of young artists competing to be the next great british artist, in the line of Damien Hirst or Jeff Koons.

The show begins with the question of what is contemporary art, and it is wise to ask this question. What is contemporary art? but the high fishion, success and the artist genius. Although I love that it is a reality, something closer, which makes it more digestive, consumes it and exposes it. I'm not a fan of this type of show, but in this case seems to help to dismantle the myth of art and brings different reflections. I also loved the creative processes, besides watching Tracey Emin as an implacable judge.

Bored to Death es genial... Jason Scwartzman, Zack Galifianakis y Ted Danson están geniales. Tiene ese airesillo indie del que se ha adueñado HBO. Es casi una adaptación de "Ciudad de vidrio" de Paul Auster. Se disfruta muchísimo, tiene mil referencias cada capítulo, algunas muy obvias, al viejo estilo de los primeros Simpsons. Destaca la figura de Danson, un actor buenísimo... y bueno Scwartzman ni que decir! En general es para reírse y disfrutar de la brisilla naive. Quiero un espacio como el de Jim Jarmush!!

Bored to Death is awesome... Jason Scwartzman, Zack Galifianakis and Ted Danson are brilliant. It has this indie feeling that HBO seems to take over. It is almost a remake of "City of glass" of Paul Auster. You can enjoy it a lot, it has a thousand of references each chapter, some very obvious, as the old-style of the early Simpsons.  The figure of Danson is fantastic, a great actor... and Scwartzman, no words! In general is to laugh and enjoy. 

Let it go daddy-o!

Genial esta serie de Flight of the Conchords sin duda una de mis preferidas. Bret Mckenzie y Jemaine Clement son unos maestrazos de la semiótica, saben analizar los signos y recrearlos de una manera muy genuina y creativa. En FOTC todo es satírico, todo lo que tenga aire de seriedad. Mi capítulo preferido es en el que bailan como en West Side Story o cuando Bret baila enfadado reluciendo sus habilidades Flash Dance, ahaha!! Para los fans de Michel Gondry hay un capítulo dirigido por él o para los admiradores de David Bowie tienen un capítulo tributo.

Mi primer acercamiento con ellos fue cuando estabamos en Katmandú y curioseando en la tele encontramos el capítulo en el que Bret canta una canción coreana emulando un karaoke, la verdad es que no había mucha diferencia entre las imágenes locales y las del programa. Después tuvimos la oportunidad de verlos en su tour europeo en Birmingham en un concierto para 10,000 personas, wow!!! nada que ver con la narrativa del show, esperábamos ver a los chicos indies que apenas tienen fans, bahh!!! aún así fue un concierto espectacular flipé muchísimo en el intro nunca había visto un show tan creativo. 

Cuando terminaron la segunda temporada y no decidieron seguir, me convencí a mi misma de que habían sabido retirarse, es decir con el tiempo las series van perdiendo su glamour y los guiones se hacen más inconsistentes. En fin que para mi sorpresa y decepción aparecieron en un capítulo de la última temporada de Los Simpsons, argh! los terminaron de consumir finalmente, que decir de su participación tan cliché. ¡Ya sabemos que son de Nueva Zelanda!

Rescatable la participación de Jemaine en Gentlemen Broncos de Jared Hess y en Shark versus Eagle una producción neozelandesa. También Bret en Diagnosis Death otra neozelandesa para morirse de risa.

Brilliant the Flight of the Conchords tv show, undoubtedly one of my favorites. Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie are masters of semiotics, they can scan signs and recreate them in a very genuine and creative way. In FOTC everything is satirical, everything with a serious air. My favorite episode is the one they dance like in West Side Story or when Bret dances angry showing his Flash Dance skills, ahah! For fans of Michel Gondry there's an episode directed by him, or David Bowie fans they have a tribute episode.   

My first contact with them was when we were in Kathmandu and browsing on TV there was the episode in which Bret sings a korean song emulating a karaoke, the truth is there wasn't much difference between the local image and tv show. Then we had the opportunity to go to their european tour in Birmingham in a concert for 10,000 people, wow! Nothing to do with the narrative of the tv show, we expected the indies guys that barely have fans, bahh! Still it was a spectacular concert, I really got excited in the intro I never had seen a show so creative.   

When they finished the second season they decided not to continue, I convinced myself that they had managed how to retire, I mean with the time tv series lose their glamour and scripts become more inconsistent. For my surprise and disappointment  they appeared in an episode of the final season of the Simpsons, argh! Finally they are totally consumed, and what to say about their participation so cliché. We know you are from New Zealand!

Nice participation of Jemaine in Gentlemen Broncos of Jared Hess and Shark vs. Eagle a New Zealand production. And Bret in Diagnosis Death another New Zealand production to die of laughter.
